Reinforced profiled glass is glass strengthened from the inside with metal wire or mesh. The metal elements in reinforced glass can be made of steel or aluminum. Reinforced glass can be straight or profiled, smooth or textured, clear or colored. The main advantages of reinforced glass over regular glass are its ability to contain the spread of fire during fires and to contain shards when damaged. In terms of strength, reinforced glass is inferior to regular glass.
